What is the best base for a hot tub?
First of all, you don't want one part of your hot tub to sink into the soil while the other will remain higher. That's why you need a solid and even base. You also have to prepare the base, ensuring good air circulation under the hot tub and preventing vegetation growth. That is key when choosing the type of base.
Your base will need to ensure a good load-bearing capacity. When filled with water, the hot tub will weigh approximately 4,400lb (2,000kg) plus each hot tubber's weight.
It is best to install your hot tub on a concrete base, five concrete slabs, a wooden decker, or recycled PVC deck boards. Use levelling chips to create an even base, if necessary.
